Are they accessible with JAWS? The Google help pages say to use Firefox with them, but I'm still having issues.
Thanks,
Becky
As for google dox, nope! I tried using it for a class last week, and got nothing.
I use google chrome with drive and docs and nvda. Firefox is usable, but in this case
Chrome is better. In Drive: Once it is loaded, you use your tab key to navigate down
to any button or list. If you find a button, such as the create new button that you
want to use, once you find it, turn off browse mode, with insert and space. It makes
a click noise, then press space to activate the button. It should pop up with a menu
in which you can use your up and down arrows to find the type of file you want to
create. If it doesn't work, hit tab and try it again. Once you have files, you will want
to find them. From the main drive homepage www.drive.google.com, use tab to
navigate to the list vies, I believe it says my drive list view or something of the sort.
Continue down until you find the other list view. Use your left and right arrows to
navigate through the items on the grid, because if you use up and down, it will look
like some of your files are missing. In any and all navigation screens in drive, you
should probably keep your browse mode off, turn it off with insert-space. In a
document; Once you load a file, it will load and make the browse mode on noise.
Turn it back off, you can't type with browse mode on. Use normal document
navigation commands to get to the place in the file you want to type, and then type.
When you're done, close the window. It will save automatically. I've probably
forgotten some of a lot of information, so if anyone who sees this has questions,
ask.
I've never used it. tried to use it yesterday and didn't get it. :p
Ah. Looks like I'm gonna have to learn something new no matter what, whether it be a browser, an OS, a screenreader, or some combination. It's just not gonna happen with JAWS, IE, or Firefox. lol
Thanks for the info!
Becky
Hi.
There are some free tutorials from the american foundation of the blind for google docs and drive with nvda.
http://www.afb.org/info/living-with-vision-loss/using-technology/assistive-technology-videos/123
JAWS 18 now apparently has increased support for google docs. I don't use it at all though, preferring the Microsoft suite of office products. So you'll have to let us all know how it works if you want to mess around with it.
Google Docs is accessible using JAWS 16 and 17 with IE and FireFox - FireFox is
better. NVDA purportedly yields better results, though I haven't tried JAWS 18
as Mad Dog suggests.
